this was a bucket list trip arranged through basecamp explorer. i stepped off a tiny plane onto a dusty airstrip in the savannah, and just yards before me lounged a mother cheetah with her cubs.
i’ve never seen again the sky this blue, the grass this green, and miles and miles of grazing and galloping wildlife. i saw a leopard attack a baboon while i ate breakfast. i saw a wildebeest give birth while fending off a jackal. i saw a hyena face off with a cheetah. i saw young lions practicing their hunting skills, and a male lion roar into the night.
